Dear friends,

As the largest repository of gay /feminist/minority-related books periodicals, records and memorabilia since the Nazis burned Hirschfeld's Institute in 1933, we have aided many activists, media people, students and researchers nationwide, without public funding. Now a tax deduc, table educational institution, we are settling into our new public quarters and seeking financing to expand our services worldwide..

But this is more a request for MATERIALS THAN FOR

FUNDS. Our files, covering the work of over 1300 gay-related organizations and prime acti-

Hotline benefited

Technical ficulties never stop true performers and despite problems which delayed the start of the Hotline Benefit at Another Place on May 23rd, Ray & Company, Miss D., Melissa Ross, Miss Gay Ohio and Miss Gay West. Virginia all gave superb and exciting performances.

Their show raised $150.00 for the Gay Hotline which is being used to purchase a new answering machine and ventilation fans for the Hot

Room at the

Community Center. The Hotline. which was using a borrowed answering machine, will now have prerecorded messages about events happening during the current week. This will allow callers to get information outside of Hotline hours which are 7 to 11 P.M. seven days a week.

Special thanks to all the performers and to Henry Henderson and Sam for allowing the Benefit to be held at Another Place
